Iodine acid
iodine acid, also iodine acid mentioned, is a halogen oxy acid, like chlorine acid and bromine acid. It is corrosive and equal to the chlorine acid relatively inconsistant fire-promoting. Similarly as chlorine acid also iodine acid is very a dangerous material, since it reacts relatively fast strongly exothermically.

production of the iodine acid
iodine acid is won by oxidation of iodine with nitric acid (HNO 3), chlorine or hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2):
- <math> \ mathrm {I} _2 + 6 \ mathrm {H} _2 \ mathrm {O} + 5 \ mathrm {Cl} _2 ~~ \ overrightarrow {\ leftarrow} ~~ 2 \ mathrm {HIO} _3 + 10 \ mathrm {HCl} </math>
Hydrochloric acid (HCl) must be removed from the equilibrium, since it would reduce the iodine acid upward backward reaction shown and thus the equilibrium would shift on the left side. This can be transacted for example with mercury oxide (HgO).
Iodine acid is a strong oxidizing agent and a weak acid.
Orthoperiodsäure
the Orthoperiodsäure (H 5 IO 6) is the iodine (VII), only steady in water - acid. It is a strong oxidizing agent and a weak one mehrbasige acid. From heating up in the vacuum first the condensate tri by iodine acid ( H 7 I 3 O 14) and from this Periodsäure ( (HIO 4) n) results.
