Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir (hindi: जम्मूऔरकश्मीर, jammū aur kaśmīr, [ʤʌmmuː ɔɽ kʌɕˈmiːɽ], English Jammu and Kashmir) is an Indian Federal State and part of the region Kashmir disputed between China , India and Pakistan. It takes a surface of 101.387 km ² and has 10.069.917 inhabitants (conditions 2001).

Jammu and Kashmir borders on the Indian Federal States Himachal Pradesh and the Punjab, the province of Pakistan of the same name Punjab, on the part-autonomous Asad of Pakistan Kashmir, on the north areas of Pakistan, as well as on Tibet (among other things at Aksai Chin) (in the clockwise direction, beginning in the south). The Federal State consists of 3 regions. In the western part the region Kashmir with predominantly Muslim population and Srinagar lies as center. Ladakh, a region with Tibetan buddhistischer culture and the center Leh forms the eastern part. The southern region is Jammu, it exhibits an predominantly hinduistische population.

1957 - Jammu and Kashmir become Federal State of India
1962 - Chinese-Indian war, China occupies Aksai Chin (western part of the Indian region Ladakh)
1966 - peace of Taschkent and official acknowledgment of the „LINE OF control “(locomotive)
1984 - beginning of the fights on the Siachen glacier between Pakistan and India, around the entrance to the valley of Leh, controlled by India
, 1986/1987 - China and India pull troops in the Ladakh border area together, first notices of moslemischer extremists on Indian mechanisms, the one autonomous Kashmir state demand or the connection on Pakistan
1990 - terror in the Kashmir valley reaches high point, escape of over 100.000 Hindus (Kashmiri Pandits) from the valley to Jammu, India and Pakistan strengthens its troops at the borders, Murder of the highest religious Muslim leader (me WAIT Mohammed Farooq).
