Janica Kostelić
Janica Kostelić [ˈjanitsaˈkɔstɛlitɕ] (* 5. January 1982 in Zagreb) is Croatian ski - a Fahrerin (ski alpine one). It is one the most successful alpin-ski - Sportlerinnen of all times and is successful in all disciplines. It is Siegerin in all ski disciplines. Janica Kostelić is the so far most successful alpine Skifahrerin with olympic winter plays.
Kostelić was a first Croatian Sportlerin, who ever won medals with olympic winter plays. Janica Kostelić is at the same time the so far only Skirennfahrerin, which could achieve four gold medals with olympic plays. After it had to pausieren 2001 because of a knee injury, which would have meant almost the early end of its career, it won 2002 three gold medals in the Riesenslalom , in the slalom and in the combination with the olympic winter plays as well as silver medal in the super g. With the olympic winter plays 2006 in Turin it could continue their successful career with gold medal in the combination, as well as further silver medal in the super g.
2003 in pc. Moritz became it again world champion, this time in the slalom and in the Riesenslalom. At the beginning of of 2004 had to withdraw itself it due to a renewed knee injury temporarily from the sport. With the world championships in boron millions it became 2005 world champion in the combination, in the departure and in the slalom.
So far it could win 30 Weltcuprennen (conditions: 18. March 2006), of it 20 slaloms, two Riesenslaloms, departure, one super g, two supercombinations and four combination valuations. Thus it belongs to only four ski run runner inside beside Petra Kronberger, Pernilla Wiberg and Anja Pärson in all Wettwewerben of the Skiweltcups to win could. If one considers still victories in the combination, there is of them even only three (Kostelić, Kronberger and Wiberg) - see winners in all ski disciplines. 2001, 2003 and 2006 it could the Gesamtweltcup for itself decide, in addition also the Disziplinenweltcups in the slalom and in the combination. 2005 became it after a dramatic final with only three points arrears on Anja Pärson second in the Gesamtweltcup.
Kostelić lined up in the season 2005/06 to the few alpine ski runner inside, to which it succeeded, all disciplines in one season to win (so far only Petra Kronberger). Beyond that it won the Gesamtweltcup (this with the record score of 1970 points) and the Slalomweltcup ever to third.
Janica Kostelić is so far the only Skifahrerin, which could defend their olympic gold medal in the alpine combination. Since the winter plays of Turin 2006 Janica Kostelić is the most successful alpine Skiläuferin with olympic plays.
With the home Worldcup on the Sljeme in Zagreb, in January 2006 it lost with 2. Slalomdurchgang already immediately after the start right ski stick including glove and reached nevertheless with strong pain, but persistently and with exzellenter time the 3. Landing place (placement 1. Passage: 7.).
Janica Kostelić is practically already in Croatia for lifetimes a legend. Their successes and fates are often singular and historical. Hardly another Skisportlerin has already dertig many medical operations behind itself, like Janica Kostelić. Despite these physical setbacks and often also the pitch, which pursues her, she collects always again new psychological and physical forces, in order to emerge again again on point ranks. Their earnings/services for the Croatian Skisport, the euphoria, which produced them with the Croatian fans, will remain in lasting memory. The TV-transmitter euro sport shortens it to the world Sportlerin of the yearly 2005.
It is in the long run also earnings/services of the Kostelić family that the Slalom Worldcup was registered by Zagreb (Sljeme) successfully into the calendar of the FIS. In hardly another country Slalom Skiweltcups are visited by so many fans, as in Croatia, which contributes finally substantially to the good atmosphere and to increased match achievements among the sportsmen. Croatia, which is actually a country of the sea and the sun, also successfully lined up since successes of Janica Kostelić under the group of the countries with large winter sports tradition. For Croatian fans the alpine Skiweltcup is at present of nearly equal importance like other kinds of summer haven.
Its father Ante Kostelić, which is at the same time their coach, was in former times a well-known hand ball player. Its older brother Ivica Kostelić is, like her, ski driver and became 2003 Slalom world champions.
