Johann Flierl

Johann Flierl (* 16. April 1858 in book yard with Fürnried, today municipality saving country, Upper Palatinate; † 30. September 1947 in Neuendettelsau) was a German Missionar.

After the northeast part of the island new Guinea 1885 had become German colony (emperor William country), based it 1886 a mission station. Flierl remained until 1930 in new Guinea. Up to this time 18 mission stations and 25,000 Christians developed were baptized.

Today the Evangelical-Lutheran church is in Papua New Guinea with 815.000 members the largest Evangelist church inPacific area.
