emperor chair is a town in the district Zurzach of the canton Aargau in Switzerland. It is located at the high Rhine at the border to Germany like also to the canton Zurich. Concerning the surface it is the smallest municipality of the canton and one smallest Switzerland.

History
at the upper end of the steep rock slope was in 12. Century the small castle of the barons von Kaiserstuhl. After their becoming extinct the possession turned into to the barons von Regensberg . These created a fastened small town in the year 1254 at the steep rock slope and designated it after the sex, whose inheritance they had begun. The Regensberger came however soon into money scarcities and had their possession still before end 13. Century to the diocese sell Konstanz.
Emperor chair served thereafter during centuries as center the konstanzischen Landesverwaltung. to 31. Decembers 2005 lived 420 humans in emperor chair, the foreigner portion amounted to 20.0%. During the census 2000 44.9% were reformed, 28.8% Roman-catholic and 11.1% moslemisch; 1.1% belonged to other faith directions. 85.5% called German its host language, 7.1% Albanian, 2.3% Italian, 2.1% English.
The municipality meeting, the Legislativgewalt exercises authorities the meeting of the voters. Implementing authority is an town councillor. Its term of office amounts to four years and it in the Majorzverfahren (majority choice procedure) by the people is selected. It leads and represents the municipality. In addition it carries out the resolutions of the municipality meeting and the tasks, which were assigned to it by canton and federation.
