Karst (geography)
the word Karst comes from the Slovenian and means as much as “stony and unfruchtbarer soil”. The Karst (Slovenian kras, Croatian krš, Italian Carso) is a Karstlandschaft in Slovenia and Croatia, which extends over the hinterland of the tri esters bay up to the Dinari alps. In it one finds numerous
- Dolinen,
- Karstflüsse, among them the Krka (Croatia), the Kupa, Slunjčica and Korana, thosethe national park Plitvicer lakes forms
- Karsthöhlen, among them the caves of Postojna and the caves of Škocjan in Slovenia, as well as numerous one caves in the Croatian Velebit - massif.
It was named-giving for its landscape form. The Italian part of the landscape gave also thatwine of the same name Carso the name.
