Kitzbühel is a city in Tirol, Austria. It is district capital of the district Kitzbühel, and is because of the Kitzbühler Ache, in the middle in the Kitzbüheler alps.

history

in the late Bronzezeit (1100 - 800 v. Chr.) the area was settled around Kitzbühel of Illyrern, which dug for Kupfererz.

Around the year 15 v. Chr. the Romans among emperors Augustus to over the alpine region spread, and established the province Noricum. After decaythe westRoman realm the area was settled around 800 by Bajuwaren, which rodeten the forests.

In 12. Century is the first mention of the name Chizbuhel in a Chiemseer document (the speech is there) from a “Marquard of Chizbuhel”, whereby Chizzo designates a Bavarian kinshipand Bühel the geographical location of the settlement on a hill. Hundred years later a source the Vogtei of the pin Bamberg in „Kicemgespuchel testifies “; in the city collection document of 1271 the place “Chizzingenspuehel” is called.

Kitzbühel came 1255 with the first Bavarian landing hurrying to Upper Bavaria, duke Ludwig II. Kitzbühel lent to 6. June 1271 the municipal law and the city was fastened with a militaryful wall. Kitzbühel is considered as one of the most important winter sports centers in Austria at the foot of the Hahnenkammes (1712 m) and the Kitzbüheler of horn (1996 m). Together with the ski runways and elevatorsin the neighbouring Kirchberg in Tirol, yoke mountain and at the passport Thurn exhibits Kitzbühel one of the largest coherent skiing areas of Austria.
