Csongrád [ˈʧonɡraːd] is a Komitat (administrative district) in south Hungary. It borders on Serbia (Vojvodina) and Romania as well as on the Komitate Bács Kiskun, Jász Nagykun Szolnok and Békés. It has a surface of 4.263 km ² and (2001) 418,574 inhabitants. The Komitatssitz is Szeged, other important cities is Csongrád, Szentes, Hódmezővásárhely and Makó.
