Cooperative comprehensive school
the cooperative comprehensive school (KGS) also additives comprehensive school is Germany an existing school form.
The main school branch, the material school branch and the Gymnasialzweig form the three columns of this school form. They correspond to the three-membered public education. In sport and often also in the subjects of the musi-CH-cultural education schoolbranch-spreading instruction is given, i.e. Pupils of all three school branches are informed in common groups of learning. Thereby the framework guidelines apply to the respective school branch. Also the conclusions, which are given at a KGS, correspond to the conclusions of the hauptschule, the six-form high school and that of the High School.
There are comprehensive schools, which lead starting from class 11 to the Abitur, others offers only instruction up to 10. Class, so that pupils must change for preparation on the Abitur to an upper stage High School.
Combinations, to the integrated comprehensive school, and to purely the comprehensive school there are additives likewise. These can develop for example from the school after decision of the total conference of the school. With such decisions must be included however the parents representatives and at some places also the pupil representatives with.
A goal of the cooperative comprehensive school is to be offered it to pupils despite the large Unterrichtes in the own school branches interfaces to the other school forms and their pupils. In addition can e.g. the allocation of the building after classes instead of after school branches, belong, which communication of the pupils can improve among themselves and facilitate also a school branch change. Also participation of individual pupils at individual subjects of a higher school stage is conceivable; for example a mathematically talented junior high school student could visit the mathematics instruction of the Gymnasialzweigs. A condition for it is thereby a school sphere-spreading Lehrerkollegium and a tuning of the Unterrichtes of the three school branches among themselves. Usually there is one specialized conference for each subject only in each case, in which subject teachers and subject teacher inside all three school branches participate. Here instruction contents, requirement yardsticks, principles of the performance evaluation, the introduction of text books are co-ordinated and much more besides between the main school branch, the material school branch and the Gymnasialzweig.
Today comprehensive schools exist in all German Lands of the Federal Republic, if directly into some only very few. In Bavaria there were different schools of this school type between 1973 and 1993 in consequence of the country wide total school school attempt from 1973 to 1982, however these were dissolved in the course of the next years except for few exceptions. Today there only only one comprehensive school, the Willy fire comprehensive school in Munich exists.
