Ladislaus Sunthaym
Ladislaus Sunthaym (also Ladislaus of Sunthaym, Sunthaim, Sunthain, Sunthaymer; * over 1440 in Ravensburg, ? End 1512/At the beginning of 1513 in Vienna) was a German historian, Genealoge, Geographer and clergyman, mainly in Vienna was active.

Life and work
Sunthaym comes of one Patriziergeschlecht that Free realm city Ravensburg in upper swabia. It studied at that University of Vienna Theology; there it became 1460 to Procurator the rheinischen nation selected, a kind managing director for the interests of the West German students. 1465 attained he the academic title one Baccalaureus artium.

Around the turn of the century emperor planned Maximilian I. a large-scale project for the fundamental renewal of the habsburgischen historiography due to chronicles, archivalischen sources and also (grave)Inschriften. Maximilians special interest applied for genealogischen aspects, with their research it Sunthaym entrusted, by his in the meantime far well-known Babenberger family tree for it seemed particularly suitable. Thus it became 1498 first appointed the Hofkaplan and soon thereafter to the Hofhistoriographen. Beside Sunthaym were also the historians Johann Stabius and Jakob Mennel (also Manlius) takes part in Maximilians ambitious historiographischen enterprises.
1499 Sunthaym received a third Pfruende in Vienna, 1504 became it member of the cathedral chapter. 1505 it submitted a habsburgische master history from mythischen origins to the emperor into the most recent time, with the client however no favour found. Thereupon Sunthaym with Mennel should revise the work - its result again excited the criticism of the Johann Stabius. Sunthaym turned thereupon the Genalogie of others, with the Habsburgern of related prince houses too.
Sunthaym was for its searches much on journeys, collected chronicles in monasteries and lay archives, and their excessive quantity compared critically. To its tasks also the description of the countries controlled by the genealogisch examined sexes belonged. By the numerous topographic details from own opinion and inquiries with contemporaries, which he had probably partly already collected during earlier journeys, its geographical works are an important source for regional studies and restaurant history of Austria and far parts of upper Germany - its descriptions extend until Franconias and into the Elsass.
