the district Forchheim is a district in the south of the governmental district Upper Franconia in Bavaria. Neighbour circles are in the norththe district Bamberg, in the northeast and the east the district Bayreuth, in the southeast the district Nürnberger country and in the south and the west the district attaining high city.

history
the largest part of the area around Forchheim stood up to occupationthe high pin Bamberg by Bavarian troops to 29. November 1802 nearly 800 years long under the sovereignty of the bishop von Bamberg. After the integration after Bavaria 1803 the “regional court Forchheim” were created, both responsibly for law and administrationwas. 1862 was separated into Bavaria law and administration and the administrative authority was renamed in “office for district Forchheim”, from which finally in the year 1939 a district administration office became, which administers the district.
The today's district Forchheim developed in the context of the Bavarian regional reorganization of 1972, when one integrated the district at that time the up to then circle-free district town Forchheim as well as parts of the dissolved districts Ebermannstadt and Pegnitz.
