within the range of the German right becomes the age in accordance with § 187 exp. 2 sentence 2 BGB (and § 188 exp. 2 alto. 2 BGB) computes.

This regulation means that one is older starting from 0:00 at its birthday one year and not only to thatactual birth. This computation might correspond also to the view of the population. The legislator had to create however its own regulation, since according to the usual computation of periods, at which it depends on an event, which does not fall into the run of a daily (birth), the first day one takes in account.

the dying books led by the churches very often contain (in Saxonia after 1750 for adults regularly) age data. During genealogischen research however such differences should be always understood as a respect character to examine the thing again (see dead point) and other sources with to consult, in particular court accounting books, in order to exclude mistakes.
