Partially the arising skin problems can be due also to the incompatibility of certain sun protective agents. In particular preparations with chemical light protection factors can cause problems with humans with sensitive skin. The more highly the light protection factor, D.h. the more highly the concentration of the chemical filter substances, and the more strongly the UV radiation, the more highly the risk of an allergy. It concerns chemically very reactive connections such as Methoxymethylcinnamat (Zimtsaeureester). Supposed reaction mechanism is the chemical reaction of light protection factors with proteins in the skin and production of foreign proteins.

Alternatively to the chemical light protection factors sun protective agents with mineral light filter can be used.
