anomalies
abnormal purchases can be divided in two categories: On the one hand the short theoretical borders by buildings; whereby however a bridge or an artificial island no land border justifies; On the other hand disputed borders:
- Denmark has additionally to its border with Germany an extremely short border to Sweden to the Öresundbrücke
- Singapore has two very short borders with Malaysia at at the Tuas Second left bridge as well as at the dam Johor Causeway
- Bahrain, which is actually an island state, has a border with Saudi Arabia on a dam (King Fahd Causeway; by planned Qatar Bahrain the Friendship Bridge a border with Qatar forms)
- Great Britain has additionally to his border with the Republic of Ireland a border with France in the euro tunnel as well as in Gibraltar a short border with Spain
- Cyprus has only one border with the Turkish Republic of north Cyprus, whereby the latter is not internationally recognized; Dhekelia (part of the British Basen of Akrotiri and Dhekelia) is in the UN-buffer zone between Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of north Cyprus, those in each case neighbour. Theoretically Cyprus borders not directly on the Turkish Republic of north Cyprus, but over a buffer zone of the UN (exception: the village Strovilia)
- South Korea does not only have a border with North Korea at the demilitarisierten border, is however from North Korea by a 4-km broad demilitarisierte zone separate
- Cuba has a short border with the military basis Guantanamo Bay (leased from the USA)

it gives many countries, which had one neighbour in their history only, whereby some any longer it does not exist and others have either no more land border or meanwhile on more than one country to border.
- Korea bordered once on China ( 1860 ago), before by the Pekinger convention a second border with Russia was created
- Ciskei, a South African Homeland (to 27. April 1994)
- Dominion OF Newfoundland with Canada (to 31. To March 1949)
