List of the presidents of the French national assembly

the condition-giving national assembly came out 1789 from the general conditions (États généraux) . The president changed in short distances to the rotation principle. That applied also to the following legislative meeting (1791 - 1792) and the national convention (1792 - 1795). With the establishment of the board of directors, 1795, the parliamentary system of two Houses developed. The lower, the advice the five hundred, granted only a short office period to its chairmen.

Under Napoléon Bonaparte had to issue the Corps législatif (legislative body) any power of laws, but was missing to it the possibility for the debate - why the laws were actually only sealed.

With the restoration of the monarchy 1814 the parliamentary system of two Houses were restored. On side the chamber of the high aristocracy, on the other one the chamber of deputies, which selected for the first time its presidents for a substantial term of office.

With the February revolution of 1848 the royal meetings were dissolved and replaced by the national assembly. After the end of the second republic it replaced III. to Napoleon. by a variant of the Corps législatif its uncle.

In the third republic the House of Commons again the name chamber of deputies became assigns, 1876 developed with the senate the upper house. The chamber of deputies was renamed with the condition of the fourth republic in national assembly - in such a way it is called until today.
