Möhlau is a municipality at the southwest edge of the district joke mountain (Saxonia-Anhalt). It is about nine kilometers west to the former district town Gräfenhainichen and about 18 kilometers southeast from Dessau directly because of the national border to Saxonia.
Together with the city Gräfenhainichen as well as the municipalities Jew mountain, Schköna, Tornau and Zschornewitz form the central administrative body gate for Möhlau to the Dübener heath.

Geografie
geology
the Gemeindegebiet is strongly coined/shaped by the traces brown coal of the open mining. Most of the remainder holes are in the meantime flooded and serve as bath lakes.
