Maluku Utara (too German north Molukken) is an Indonesian province, which covers the northern part of the Inselgruppe of the Molukken.
The most important islands of the province are Halmahera, Ternate, Tidore, Bacan, Obi, Morotai, and the Sula islands.
The population consists of some malaiischen peoples and Alfuren. The majority of the population professes itself to the Islam (c.a 67) of %), it gives important Christian minority (c.a 33%). To inter+religious conflicts, which broke out in particular on Ambon, again and again also on Maluku Utara spread.
