Mary T. Meagher
Mary Therese Meagher (* 1964) is a former US-American swimmer.
Mary T. Meagher is considered as one of the best Schmetterlingstil swimmers in swimming history. At the age of only 14 years it set up its first butterfly world records to 1979. The miracle child from Kentucky was considered thereby as Favoritin to the olympic plays 1980 in Moscow. The olympia boycott of the USA prevented however the first olympia victories. This retrieved it 1984 with the olympic plays in Los Angeles . Superior it won the 100 and 200 m butterfly and secured themselves with the American 4 x 100 m situation layer their third gold medal.
In memory the large world records remain at the beginning of the 1980er years. To 13. August 1981 placed it over 200 m butterfly with 2.05, 96 min. a world record up, which was compared with the far jump world record by Bob Beamon and for the eternity seemed. Only to 17. May 2000 knew the Australian Susie O'Neill with 2.05, 81 min. this record break. In the eternal rank list over this distance it stands however still very far above. After O'Neill only the current Weltrekordlerin Otylia Jędrzejczak and Jessicah Schipper was faster.
