master Slave (German: Master slave) is a form of the administration of the access to common resources in a bus system or a computer network.

basic principle
a participant is the master, the others is the Slaves. The master has as only the right to access without being asked the common medium. It queries the Slaves in regular time intervals. The Slave may and cannot on his part not the common medium access and must wait, until it is asked by the master.
