Medicine

a medicine (Latin medicamentum - the cure) is a medicament, which serves an illness in certain dosage for the healing, Vorbeugung or Linderung.

From medicines to distinguish however medicaments are to the diagnosis of illnesses and physical conditions(Diagnostika) and medicaments, which serve the replacement of body fluids.

The term medicament includes on the other hand all medicines, goes however beyond the term of a medicine: Blood preparations or Diagnostika as for example contrast means are medicaments, but no medicines. Colloquiallythe word medicament is used however frequently synonymously with medicine.

They are mostly well-known under the trade name and its free name, the international non proprietary name (INN). Cures however cover other medically supporting measures after more up-to-date (2005) nomenclature in Germanylike bath cures, Massagen, Ergotherapie and patient gymnastic.

As medicines ago certain plants, plant parts and animal substances, serve in more recent time however above all synthetic preparations since age. Sciences of the medicines are pharmacy and pharmacology.
