Meindert Boekel

Meindert Boekel (* 15. September 1915 in Amsterdam; † 2. May 1989 in Hilversum) was a Netherlands composer.

Already with 11 years Meindert Boekel in Hoorn received with Evert Koning instructions in harmony teachings and learned the organ play. With 13 it was organist of the evanglisch lutherischen municipality in Hoorn, the Netherlands. It completed the conservatoire of Amsterdam and studied there organ with Cornelis de Wolf and Anton van the refuge as well as harmony teachings and counterpoint with Ernest Mulder. 1937 he was ordered to the organists to the Nieuwe Waalse Kerk in Amsterdam. After the Second World War it led the Amsterdamer vowel ensemble and 1946 became it organist and choir leader with the NCRV - radio in Hilversum. Later he took over with the N.O.S. (Nederlandse Omroep Stichting) in Hilversum the line of the large broadcast choir and remained there up to its retirement. Furthermore he was a conductor of well-known other choirs (Soli Deo Gloria, Hoorn; Koninklijke Oratorium Vereniging Excelsior, Amsterdam) and blowing orchestras, in particular the national Brassband.

It worked furthermore as a composer of choir and blowing orchestra works. 1950 it acquired the composition price of the city Amsterdam, 1964 the music price of the municipality Hilvarenbeek, the Netherlands.
