Miramar (California)
Miramar is a high-stored suburb, approx. 30 km north the California city San Diego, (the USA). At the same time the former location of the Navy Fighter Weapons School (“TOPGUN “), admits by the film of the same name with Tom Cruise.

Miramar is also over 24,000 acres (97 km ²) one of the largest military airfields of the world. The place accommodated on the average 250 airplanes daily, and leads approx. 200,000 flights per year through.
1997 were transferred the Naval air station Miramar of US Navy of US navy Corps and renamed to Miramar navy Corps air station (Miramar MCAS).
The country on that the MCAS is settled, of the city San Diego as possible new location San Diego national air haven in the eye was already often seized. However the military-strategic considerations outweigh, since Miramar in the southwest part of the USA plays an important role in the national defense.
With the high point of the TOPGUN Trainingprogrammes the base received “Fightertown U.S.A.” to the pointed names. This name emerges also in other films and series, e.g. in HUNT - on behalf the honour.
