history

to 4. March 1790 was created with the establishment of the Départements of country also a “district Mont de Marsan”, which corresponded to the today's Arrondissement in parts. To 17. February 1800 was created from it the Arrondissement.

With the dissolution of the Arrondissements Saint Sever to 10. Septembers 1926 were added 4 cantons to the Arrondissement Mont de Marsan.

the Arrondissement borders in the north on the Arrondissements Bordeaux and Langon in the Département Gironde, in the east on the Arrondissement Nérac in the Département plumb bob et Garonne, in the southeast on the Arrondissements Condom and Mirande in the Département Gers (Midi Pyrénées), in the south on the Arrondissement Pau in the Département Pyrénées Atlantiques, in the west on the Arrondissement DAX and in the northwest on the Atlantic (gulf of Biskaya).
