Mopsos

in the Greek mythology was Mopsos

1. of the Laphit, son of Ampyx and Chloris. It helped with the hunt on the Kalydoni Eber and was the Seher of the Argonauten.
2. the son of Manto and Rhakios or Apollon, grandchild of the Teiresias. Dieser Mopsos war der berühmte Seher, der Amphilochos half, das apollonische Orakel in Kolophon zu finden. Er schlug in einem Seherwettstreit Kalchas, der aus Scham und Enttäuschung über diese Niederlage starb. Mopsos gilt als Gründer zahlreicher Städte, unter anderem von Mopsuestia in Kilikien, Klaros und seines Todesortes Mallos.
