the Musculus sternocleidomastoideus (lat.: Muscle between breastbone, Schlüsselbein and head basis, dt.: Kopfwender) runs diagonally over the side of the neck.

of the Musculus sternocleidomastoideus bends, if it works on one side, the head to the same side or turns the head to the opposite side. Cooperate both muscles, then the chin becomeslifted, since the Mastoid is appropriate dorsal for the neck spinal column.
Varietäten
occasional widens itself the range, with which the muscle at the Schlüsselbein festgewachsen is. Then widens itself usually also the trapezoid muscle, which sets at the arm side of the bone; sometimes they even grow together.The salient pit on the shoulder (between rear back line and Schlüsselbein) becomes then clearly smaller in front or disappears even completely.
