New Reichskanzlei
the new Reichskanzlei in the citizens of Berlin Vossstrasse was built under Adolf Hitler after plans the extension building established of Albert Speer as addition of the old persons Reichskanzlei and 1928-30 of the Reichskanzlei in the William route.
Hitler put the entire northern Vossstrasse, which corresponds to a building front of 421 m length, to his architect Albert Speer for this building at the disposal. Planning was begun 1934 and already bought up starting from 1935 the 18 buildings of the road piece by piece.
To 1937 the buildings Vossstrasse 2-10 were torn off. The contained also the Bavarian legation, the Ministry of Justice and the Württembergi legation. Only with the official assignment of the construction contract at Albert Speer with it, the buildings Vossstrasse 11-19 was begun (among other things To tear off gau administration large Berlin of the NSDAP and the Saxonian legation).
There were concrete structural drawings already starting from 1935/36, the pure construction period up to the opening of the Reichskanzlei to 7. January 1939 amounted to however only 11 months. In the original plans intended leader shelters only until 1943 one finished.
With the air raids on Berlin the new Reichskanzlei up to the end of war was only easily damaged. As one of the central symbols of the power of Hitler it was blown up 1949-53 on instruction of the Soviet administration of Berlin.
with the conquest of Berlin and the new Reichskanzlei fell the Soviet troops of the realm eagles of the Reichskanzlei into the hands. One can see these today in imperial was museum in London, after the British got this 1946 presented by the Soviets. The capital invested holes in the wings witness this very day from the fights.
Used after 1945 the soil and wall lining of the large resounds (marble) for the building of the Soviet honour mark in Berlin zoo and the plant in the Treptower park. Also in the underground station carrot road was used as wall panel this dark red marble and today to still see. Today a board of the donation topography of the terror reminds of the building. The Polish city Kalisch possesses likewise an honour column from the dark red marble of the Reichskanzlei on the Soviet soldier cemetery.
