) Ohrdruf 704 became in a deed of donation Thuringian of the duke Hedan II. at the Missionar and bishop Willibrord von Utrecht as well as Mulenberge (Mühlberg) and Arnestati (Arnstadt) mentioned and thereby one of the three oldest places of Thuringia is. 723 and 724 began in Ohrdruf Bonifatius with the establishment of the cell pc. In 10. Jh. Ohrdruf was place of residence of emperor Otto I. From 1463 to the reformation it gave a Karmeliterkloster. Since 1876 the city possesses a railway connection after Gotha, since 1892 after Gräfenroda.
Since 1871 became an area between Ohrdruf, Jonastal and asking city already as maneuver area used, so that 1906 the mechanism of an official troop exercise area was decided of Reichstag and begun starting from 1908 with the development of the area. The place is meanwhile in the possession of the German Federal Armed Forces.
