Peter Altmeier
Peter Altmeier (* 12. August 1899 in Saarbruecken; ? 8. August 1977 in Koblenz) was in German CDU-Politician and Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Old Meier was after his commercial training 1922/23 first Center politician and of 1927-1933 City delegate in Koblenz. After that The Second World War belonged it to the founders of the CDU. It was of 9. July 1947 up to 18. May 1969 Prime Minister and (in Personnel union) of 20 October 1949 to 12. June 1951 Minister of the Interior by Rhineland-Palatinate.
1947 Peter Altmeier instructed his Minister of Justice, to let execute a death sentence, to which it did not come however any longer, because in the meantime that Basic Law one discharged, which those Death penalty excluded.
Old Meier made himself earned around a kind "national consciousness" in the artificially formed Land of the Federal Republic. Of it a monument reminds at the right Moselufer in Koblenz nearby of the German Ecks. Beyond that the Moselbruecke carries in Wine place Bruttig Fankel since their inauguration in the year 1974 its names.
