Pfaffschwende is a municipality in that Central administrative body Ershausen/Geismar in the Thuringian district calibration field. The village is because of the foot of the Höhenzuges Gobert nearby the border between Hessen and Thuringia.

Pfaffenschwende became under the name Pfaff Inge turns in the connectionwith the reconstruction of the nearby castle 1399 mentions seizing stone for the first time documentary. During the farmer war in the years 1524/25 the place was completely destroyed, developed 1540 in same place however again.

An important acquisition for the Pfaffschwender were since approximately 1840 products of the Kattunweberei. Inthe years 1922 to 1924 the electrification of the place took place. To the Second World War also some families came to Pfaffschwende due to the resettlement of humans from the German east areas.

By an arrangement of the Council of Ministers of the GDR a 5-km-Sperrzone became at the German domestic border starting from 1952,in that the place was, put on. Thus the place could be visited by citizens, who lived inside the GDR, no more without permission. Around itself in the place to stop a stamp with the note had to be pressed into the identity card of the person.
