Pietrasanta is called a small Italian city in the Toskana (province Lucca). The local part which was because of the sea is a well-known seaside resort.
The name Pietrasanta (ital. “pietra” stone is called, “santa” as much as holy) is program, actually takes the treatment of stones into a completely special place. Because by quasi next door the convenient Marmorbrüche from Carrara the world-wide best marble is named “Statuario “very easily and cheap to get. Thus a whole set of stone-cutters, sculptors and other artists, who have to do in their work at least at the edge with stone, there settled (among other things Fernando Botero).
When there curiosities leave themselves consequence such as window boards, mail boxes, sidewalks, electrical boxes, garbage boxes and similar articles everyday on the road to find, which consist all of finest white marble, as it would be simply exorbitant elsewhere; there however it is only a cheap and practical building material. Beside pure marble work also many artists, by the way nearly all very much betagte Italian, are who work with other materials, in particular to copper, which are poured there, and glass, with which artful mosaics are put.
The residents workshops have mostly an excellent partial international reputation; Client such as Silvio Berlusconi and Papst Johannes Paul II. (Stone statues), George W. Bush and Saddam Hussein (just in the same workshop at the same time the orders run had) and other well-known personalities arose there several times than clients.
