Ploieşti

Ploieşti is a large city in Romania with approximately 250,000 inhabitants in the administrative city and approximately 300,000 inhabitants in the urban densely populated area. The city is administrative seat of the district (rum. Judeţ) Prahova, is to the Romanian capital Bucharest because of the southern foot of the Karpaten and approximately 60 kilometers north.

The first documentary mention took place during the rule of the prince Mihai Viteazul (Michael the courageous one) the year ago 1600.

The city is center of the Romanian oil promotion and - industry, to which of Romania belongs largest oil refinery in Brazi directly south to the city.

It is one of the main railway junctions of the country with two main stations of the passenger traffic (Ploieşti Vest and Ploieşti south) as well as the marshalling yard Ploieşti Triaj.
