Price (Utah)

Price is the County seat of carbon County.

Geografie

Price is on a height of 1.693 m (5556 feet). It covers a surface of 11 km ² (no water surfaces). The Kordinaten is 39°36'0 " N and 110°48'24 " W. It is appropriate in the Price River Valley (Colorado plateau Utah)

history

Abraham Powell and Caleb Baldwin Rhoades both Trapper from Salem, reached this area in the year 1877 and established a block hut. This first hut wasthe starting point for the today's Price. The place grew very fast after the discovery of coal into the 1880er year. A very large change brought also the railway, which was established here with a connection to the coal mines 1883. Price was a small before isolated Farmergemeinde and became now an active commercial centre. Bud Cassidy and its gang came often into the city around itself with supplies to supply. 1897 stole the Lohnliste of the Pleasant Valley Coal company from Cassidi. Price was designated after the Price River (discoverer William Price (1869)).
