the province Alessandria is the southeasternmost province in the Italian region Piemont. To Turin and Cuneo it is the third biggest province of the Piemont. In the north it borders on the province cellos, in the east on the province Asti. It borders on whole three other regions: Lombardei (province Pavia), Emilia Romagna (province Piacenza) and Ligurien (provinces Genova and Savona).

geography

the area of the province is hilly or hilly to two thirds. In the north the hill landscape of the Basso Monferrato lies, by which the rivers Po and Tanaro run. In the center a fruitful level, those lies from the Tanaro, which is crossed Bormida and their supplies. In the southwest still the hills of the Val Bormida, the Val lie d'Erro and the Val d'Orba, which is connected with the mountains of the Appenin; in the southeast the Ausläufer of the ligurischen Appenin forms the hilly area of the Novese and the Tortonese as well as the valleys of the Scrivia and their tributaries, in which the province borders on the province Genova.

agriculture

the far level inside the province is used mainly for the cultivation of grain: Wheat, corn, Soja, sunflowers. The cultivation of sugar beets for the industrielle production is common. In the flat areas of the Casalese the landscape is characterized by expanded rice fields.
