Pula (city)
Pula [ˈpuːlâ] (Italian Pola, German becomes outdated to Polei and Slovenian Pulj) the largest city of the peninsula is Istrien in the northwest of Croatia with 58.594 inhabitants ( conditions 2001 ). Pula liesclose of the south point of the istrischen peninsula and belongs to the catholic Diözese Poreč Pula.

At the end of the Second World War the city was taken in May 1945 by Yugoslav troops and becametogether with Istrien to a part of Croatia, a situation, which was confirmed in the peace treaty of 1947. Together with completely Croatia Pula was until 1991 part of Yugoslavia.
