the Qibla (Arab: قبلة; speak kibla, in some languages, like z. B. the malaischen, Kiblat written) is the prayer direction of the Muslims prescribed by the Koran to the Kaaba in Mekka, the highest Heiligtum Islam, where always itself the Gläubige upthe earth to find likes.
In Muslim coined/shaped countries often is (z. B. in hotels) at the ceiling of the Qibla - to find arrow in green.
in the start time Islam prayed the Muslims in the direction of Jerusalem. The excessive quantities in thatProphetenbiographie do not give clear information over the prayer direction of the prophet before its emigration toward Medina. Unite according to reports prayed it and its trailers toward Jerusalem; other excessive quantities occur mediating and mean, Mohammed gebetet toward Jerusalem, but the Ka'ba inthis direction along-considers. After the Hidschra, the emigration Mohammeds and its companions (sahaba) after Medina, the Islamic community prayed toward Jerusalem; the consideration of the Ka'ba was not possible here - already due to the geographical location -. Only in the second year afterthe Hidschra, probably 16-17 months after the emigration from Mekka - Mohammed changed the prayer direction toward the Kaaba in Mekka, a historical decision, which is to be reread also in revealing. In Sure 2.144 it means:
- „We see that you are irresolute, where in the skyyou (with the prayer) with the face to turn are. Therefore we want to point you (now) into a prayer direction, with which you will agree gladly: Your face turns toward the holy cult place (in Mekka)! “- in arab.aluminium-masgid aluminium-haram: المسجدالحرام.
Thusif Mohammed has its unrestricted requirement on the before-Islamic Ka'ba - Heiligtum, whose designer was after the Islamic teachings Abraham (Ibrahim), stressed and the Islam as continuation and completion of the abrahamschen Monotheismus understood. One called the mosque with Medina, where the change of the prayer direction took place, „mosqueder beiden Qiblas“ (Masgid al-qiblatain).
has other uses the Qibla also in other areas of life of the Muslims, because one speaks the Fürbitte (du'a) apart from the prayer also toward Mekka. Slaughtering animals, not onlyOpfertieren, takes place likewise toward Mekka. Muslim graves are in such a way aligned that the deceased with the face rests toward the Qibla. In the mosques the prayer direction is indicated by mihrab.
