Room program
the room program is located at the beginning of a building design and by the owner in the context of the project development is arranged. It represents a first detailed overview of the task of building and serves in the further process than basis of the building design. A room program can represent both for new buildings and in the old-building renovation a meaningful medium.
A goal: The room program represents extent and equipment of the substantial building uses, without a requirement on completeness and/or compartmentation. It serves the owner as media its requirements and desires to arrange and detail. It serves the architect as a first orientation for the building draft, without even already containing a spatial draft.
Contents: The room program represents usually a listing of the areas in tabular form, which can be provided. Use-dependent attributes can be assigned to each area. Kind and range of the room program depend on the later use of the building.
Form: The room program is in principle bound to no outside form. The representation depends on contents.
Attributes: Number and contents of represented attributes are strongly use dependent. Can do among other things the following data to be represented:
- Area (architecture)
- designation
- surface
- floor mat
- special furnishings, z. B. Wing
- technical equipment
- electrical equipment z. B. Number of plug sockets
- heating surfaces z. B. Under-floor heating
- of communication connections z. B. To telephone connection
