Reichenau (island)
the Reichenau is an island in the Bodensee. Since 2000 are registered it with the monastery Reichenau on the UNESCO list of the world inheritance. The island is part of the municipality Reichenau in the district Konstanz in Baden-Wuerttemberg, which in addition some surfaces on the mainland covers.

Geografie and economics
the island is appropriate for the Untersee in the western part of the Bodensee , between Konstanz and Radolfzell. The island is connected to 1838 by a up-poured dam with the mainland. The highest point of the island is on 438,7 m height and rises approx. 43 m over the sea-mirror.
By temperature equalizing-end effect of the Bodensee, the positive effects of the alpine foehn and the high number resulting from it on sun days is particularly mild the climate on the Reichenau. From it profit apart from the fruit and vegetable growing also the tourism, which is very reservedly operated on the island. Also little wine is cultivated, it gives only one situation, which Reichenauer high-wait.
geology
the island is composed of Moränenschutt and washed crushed stones, which were deposited at the end of the last ice age (worm). It is part of a Moräne, which extends from the up-poured dam in the east up to the peninsula Mettnau with Radolfzell in the west.
