Reichskanzlei
the Reichskanzlei was the authority of the realm chancellor of the German Reich of 1871 - 1945. Since 1875 it had called Reichskanzlei in the citizens of Berlin William route 77, the former palace of the prince Anton Radziwill, also school castle palace or realm chancellor palace its seat in the so-called old person. The Reichskanzlei was furnished 1871 on urge of Bismarck in this building. The authority was particularly responsible for the traffic of the realm chancellor with the remaining realm and state organ gene. The line was incumbent on an undersecretary of state.
The building of the old persons Reichskanzlei was 1738 - 1739 built by Carl Friedrich judge. 1869 were purchased the palace by Otto von Bismarck for purposes of the Prussian state government. 1875 acquired the German Reich the building, which was used in the future as living and seat of the respective realm chancellor. In the years 1875-78 a change took place after plans from George Joachim William Neumann inside the building. Starting from 1878 Bismarck used the palace as residence and the again created authority “central office of the realm chancellor” referred with him together the palace. Bismarck suggested besides renaming the palace in “Reichskanzlei”.
Likewise 1878 met in the festival room, in the center of the upper floor, the citizen of Berlin congress for the regulation of the Balkans problems under the switching of Bismarck. 1932 - the realm chancellor palace served 33 temporarily as official residence of realm president Paul von Hindenburg, since at this time Hindenburgs dwelling in the realm president palace was reconditioned.
1934 - 35 a renewed change as well as a new installation of the living and work spaces for Adolf Hitler, the leader dwelling in such a way specified took place via Paul Ludwig Troost, Gerdy Troost and Leonhard Gall. The representation rooms for the receipt of guests of the first stick were shifted into the ground floor. This accommodated beside the Vorhalle in the central tract of the palace, the salon and of this on the garden side branching the enormous live-resounds, the fire-place area and the Speisesaal. In the upper floor the cabinet hall was shifted by the cultivation of the years 1930/31 back into the conference hall of the central tract. After the building of the new Reichskanzlei the cabinet hall was shifted there and the conference hall remained empty and only for annual setting up of Hitler's birthday gifts was used. In addition were in the first stick of Hitler private work room, its bedroom with bath and the room of EH brown. In this connection in the garden of the Kanzlei a cultivation of hall was also established to convenient air protection facility together with winter garden for diplomatic receipts under it.
albert Speer with the new Reichskanzlei at the corner William route/ Vossstrasse a new building after plans of Hitler's house architect, which reflected the requirement for rule of the national socialism with its enormous extents (441 meters in the length, originated in to 1938/ 39 ). Starting from 1943 in the garden of the new Reichskanzlei also the leader shelter in such a way specified was put on.
