René Gardi

René Gardi (* 1. March 1909 in Berne; † 9. March 2000 ebenda) was a Swiss travel writer.

After a study of mathematics, physics and Zoologie at the university Berne was he from 1931 to 1945 secondary teachers in Brügg with Biel and worked then as free writers and lecture travelers. It documented its journeys to Africa in different books as well as in the two films Mandara (1959) and the last caravan (1967). He got several literary awards and became 1967 honour doctor of the University of Berne.
