Restauratio imperii

in the context of the medieval Roman-German empire and the eastRoman and/or. Byzantine empire the term Restauratio imperii or also Renovatio is understood imperii in connection with the re-establishment of old rights and/or possessions of the Roman Imperiums.

examples

the policy of the eastRoman emperor Justinian I., which aimed at a recovering of the former handing hurry in the west, called in this connection again and again Restauratio. It is however disputed whether the conquest of large parts of the former west realm was really long beforehand planned by eastRoman troops or ratheron the spontaneous use of favorable opportunities was based.

Explicitly a Renovatio was the policy of the Roman-German emperor Otto III., which let the term on coins coin/shape. Also the policy Friedrich I. (Barbarossa) those aimed off the old rights of the realm at a Renovatio and/or a Restauratio,to call in should (Reichstag von Roncaglia compares). Likewise the procedure is emperor Heinrichs VII. to call the attempt of a Renovatio.
