SIM map
the SIM map (S of ubscriber I dentity M odule) is a smart card, which is put into a mobile telephone and for the identification of the user in the net serves.
The SIM places therebythe second unit the mobiles station in the GSM . The SIM is a small processor with memory (usually in the ID-000 - format). It is protected by changeable pin against unauthorized use. By the SIM the mobile becomes equipment a userassigned and this authentifiziert. For these purposes secret numbers and algorithms are stored on the SIM. These serve afterwards also the coding of the speaking and signaling data (Ciphering). In addition the SIM serves for storing temporary, net-referred dataand preferred and closed nets. Beyond that a telephone and a note book, memory for Short Message service can - reports (SMS) and memory of the telephone numbers called last in the SIM to be integrated.
It gives a SIM Toolkit in such a way specified, around small programs on oneTo deposit SIM map, for example so-called of information service, with which one itself current information about politics, sport, weather etc. set to let can. To offer the portable radio - operator O 2 uses this, in order its Homezone - service. With the help of the SIM Toolkits it is indicated there whethermobile phone in the “Homezone” is. Also functions are possible such as a loading or a querying of the assets (with before-paid “Prepaid” - maps). The advantage of applications on the SIM map consists of the fact that these can be used independently of the assigned mobile phones (thusthereby mobile phone can be changed) also without evident change of functionality.
SIM ACCESS profiles a technology is called, with e.g. in the car the SIM data of a Bluetooth - a mobile phone by the car to be read know and the car radio communication construct. Thus leavesthe data communication by the festinstallierte outdoor aerial improve and the current consumption of the mobile phone reduce.

to technology
the SIM map generally speaking ID-01-Format one delivers. The smaller ID-000- Part can be out-broken. Due to the ever smaller mobile devices in the course of the time for D-net - devices the small ID-000 - format was introduced.
contacts
on the SIM map are 8 contact areas. Different maps vary in the number andAllocation, however only these eight contacts were specified.
From above on the left of downward right the contacts are occupied as follows:
- V CC - Supply voltage
- GND - Mass
- RESET - RESETs for Sim CCU
- V pp - programming tension
- CLK - clock
- I/O - Data
- freely
- freely
over V CC and GND the operating voltage is supplied to the SIM map. If a SIM map should not react to no more to inquiries of the mobile equipment, then it can again be started over the RESET contact. Become data storage on thoseSIM map transfer, then this happens with the help of the programming tension V pp. Over CLK the clock of the mobile equipment will transfer for the synchronisation of the data communication over the I/O contact.
circuit
the I/O unit regulates the access upthe SIM map. It is the interface of the CCU to the mobile equipment. The CCU serves mainly the store management, it can however also small programs implement. The memory consists of a ROM, a RAM and an EEPROM. In the ROM is thatOperating system of the map put down. Also Brandings of the portable radio enterprises are stored there (e.g. Startlogos). The RAM contains the straight used data, it is volatile. In the EEPROM user data are stored.
