Samnaungruppe

Those Samnaungruppe a sub-group is that Central alps within that East alps. Portion have Austria with the Land of the Federal Republic Tirol and those Switzerland with the canton Grey federations. In the Samnaungruppe are several large winter sports areas, the parts of the group for the mountain tourism in the summer cancel. Nevertheless the group still has larger original and lonely mountain areas. The group exhibits some Dreitausender. A larger Vergletscherung as in the neighbouring Silvretta is missing however. Name giver for the mountain's group is Swiss place Samnaun, in the only inhabited valley within the group is.

Neighbouring mountain's groups

The Samnaungruppe borders on the following other mountain's groups of the alps:

• Lechtaler alps (in the north)
• Oetztaler alps (in the east)
• Sesvennagruppe (in the south)
• Silvretta (in the west)
• barrier (in the northwest)

Circumscription

In The north that forms Paznauntal (Trichloroethylene Anna) the border of Ischgl to pointing mountain. There those leads Sanna the border away to Landhit a corner. In The east and Southeast that forms Inn the border of landhit a corner river upward up to the inlet of the Brancla. In Southwest the border runs along the Brancla of the inlet in the Inn river upward (Val Sinestra) and far by the Val Choeglias up to Fimberpass. From there it goes downward into the Fimbertal with that Heidelberger hut. In The west the Fimbertal forms the border of Ischgl valley upward up to the Heidelberger hut.

That Fimberpass the Samnaungruppe connects with the Silvretta.

Sub-groups

That Alpine association leader Samnaungruppe the mountains divide in three sub-groups. The sub-groups have here no own names. They are only defined by their borders.

• North comb, between landhit a corner and Flathjoch: In this part of the Samnaungruppe is Dreitausender witch head and Furgler.

• Between Flathjoch and Zeblasjoch: This is the middle part of the Samnaungruppe with the three-rope transmitters Vesulspitze and Buerkelkopf.

• South part, south and east the Zeblasjochs: in this almost exclusively in grey federations part lain is the Muttler, the highest mountain of the group of SAM now as well as some further Dreitausender.

In the Samnaungruppe gives it approx.. 140 designated and with relative elevation provided summits. From them only those exhibit in the following specified both Dreitausender a certain Bekanntheitsgrad:

Protected areas

Landscapes of national importance (Switzerland)

In accordance with article 5 of the Federal law over preservation of regional tradition and nature Switzerland leads a federal inventory of the landscapes and naturdenkmaeler of national importance.

In the Samnaungruppe is there at present one of these landscapes:

• NR. 1909, Designation: Piz Arina, Year of the admission into the inventory: 1983, Size: 4,936 hectars

Tourism

Huts

In Tiroler part the Samnaungruppe gives it to three huts of the alpine association.

• Ashtray hut: Height: 2256 m, managed summer of at the beginning of of July to in the middle of Septembers and winter on request, 40 mattress camps, Winterrraum with 10 camps and AV lock, Valley place: Lake in the Paznauntal, Going time of the Medrig Alm (elevator): 2 hours

• Witch sea-hut: Height: 2588 m, managed summer from July to approx.. 10. September (advance notification in Cologne houses!) and winter to Easter only during the day, 28 mattress camps, Winter area with 2 camps, does not block, Valley place: Serfaus, Going time of Serfaus: 5 hours

• Cologne houses: Height: 1965 m, manages summer of in the middle of June to in the middle of Septembers and winter of in the middle of Decembers to Easter (written advance notification!), 48 beds and 18 mattress camps, Valley place: Serfaus, Going time of Serfaus: 1,5 hours

Far Far moving ways

That Central alpine way 02, one of the 10 Austrian far moving ways, leads also by the Samnaungruppe. This way runs by parts of the central alps with two alternate routings.

The lighter alternative route (stage 18,1) reaches the Samnaungruppe Prutz at the Inn. From there it turns into Serfaus, St. Zeno, the Furglerjoch and the Medrigjoch after Kappl and Ischgl in Paznauntal.

The high-alpine alternative (stage 18,2) reaches the Samnaungruppe Pound in the Inn valley. From there the way leads across Lafairs and Tschupbach after St. Zeno and from there far as with stage 18.1.

Skiing areas

In Tiroler part of the Samnaungruppe there are the following skiing areas:

• Silvretta ski arena: Valley place is Ischgl in the Panznauntal, large skiing area with three nearly parallel feeder courses

• Medrigjoch - lake: Valley place is lake in the Paznauntal, smaller skiing area

• Komperdell: Valley places are Fiss and Serfaus in balcony situation over the upper Inn valley, large skiing area with aerial ropeways over several valleys away, in the season 2004/05 the Pezidbahn was opened, an eight cabin railway as feeders in the Masner skiing area over the Arrezjoch. It replaces a curve dragging elevator.
