Skirmish lake
the skirmish lake lies in the or Spree sea-area between Frankfurt (or) and Berlin, south of prince forest. It is simultaneous a typical gutter lake and the largest of the region counting over 200 lakes and the largest lake of Brandenburg. With an attendance of at that time still small property goods Saarow and Pieskow in the year 1881 the poet Theodor Fontane called the lake Märki sea, a term, which is used today still gladly in the tourism advertisement.
The lake has a surface of 12,1 km ². It is 10 km long and continuous between 1,0 and 1,5 km broad. The largest depth amounts to 29 m, the middle depth 8.8 M.
The name does not have to do anything with the skirmish in the sense from hand mixture to. It is probably slawischen origin, possibly of „koromyslo “(land on water-rise up). East of Berlin there is a further lake with a similar name, the Schermützelsee with Buckow (Märki Switzerland).
Adjacent places are bath Saarow, Wendisch Rietz and Diensdorf Radlow, in which a comprehensive routistic infrastructure is to be found for the use of the lake (, sails, fishing rods bathe a dipping) and its environment (wheel driving, moving, also Inline Skaten). Bath Saarow and Wendisch Rietz are attached to the regional traction network of the traffic group Berlin Brandenburg.
