Lock Svaneholm is appropriate about 40 kilometers east for the Swedish city Malmö in the province care.
Around 1530 under Mourids Jespen Sparre a castle from clay bricks on an island in the Svaneholmssjö one established. After it she was developed briefly in the Renaissance style. End 17. Century let supplement Axel Gyllenstierna the east wing and in the style of the Italian baroque changes. Afterwards no more larger changes were made at the lock, but the barrier ditch, which surrounded the lock, became in 19. Century filled up.
After the death of the last owner in the year 1935 the association for local history bought the lock. Today it accommodates a museum and a restaurant.
