Writing language

a writing language is a language, which is used for reading and writing, in particular, where verbally in another language or a dialect one operates. In the broader sense the word designates the Standardsprache, because it a standardfor the written representation of all variations of the Lautsprache sets. In many languages controlling the writing language applies as indication of an elevated education and thus as a worthwhile goal. Writing language is always a certain language (German, English) and differs from the term that written language, which generally opposes “writing-light language” to the spoken language.

Examples: In German Switzerland Swiss high German ( locally also called writing German) is the writing language (or roof language), during verbally excluding Swiss dialect (Swiss German) is spoken. Thatresembles applies to many other high and/or. upper-German dialect areas and down-German language areas.

In the RA-gate-Omani Rumantsch Grischun is the official common writing language or roof language of the five dialects.
