because a group of road musicians to 20. June 1962 still after 22 o'clock played, called some adjacents resident the police. With the attempt of the police the group to dissolve and two musicians provisionally arrest, it to Rangeleien with young people and the situation came escalated. In the night and on the following four days it came to road battles of several thousand young people and students with partially mounted policemen, with whom there were many hurt ones and high damage to property developed. One the participant was at that time still rather unpolitical later RAF - terrorist Andreas Baader. Altogether about 400 persons were arrested, some to terms of imprisonment were condemned later. After unrests the Munich police compiled a concept, in Germany on Deeskalation set for the first time around future events of this kind to avoid.
evaluation
the Schwabinger of riots are often seen as forerunners of the 68er-Bewegung and student unrests. Differently than the latters they developed however spontaneously and disorganized than protest against that overcure employment of the police. Dammed up grind among the young people was probably added and made unrests on the following days to a self runner. Concrete political demands were however not raised. Also the riots were carried rather of pupils and training as of students. To that extent they stood perhaps for the so-called half strong riots of the late 1950er years more near.
