Sierra Nevada (the USA)
the Sierra Nevada (from the Spanish: Snow mountains) are high mountains in the USA, which lie to the predominant part in California. A small part lies in Nevada in the proximity of the Lake Tahoe. 600 km long mountain course forms with itsnorthern continuation, the cascade chain, the internal zone of the Pacific system of the North American Kordilleren.
The highest collection is the Mount Whitney (4418 m over NN), the highest mountain of North America outside of Alaska. In the east the Sierra Nevada borders on the large basin,in the west to cent ral the Valley.
The mountains are of deep valleys resulted from glaciers pulled through, which are slopes covered with enormous forests. Here the giant giant trees grow. This very day one can find in the Sierra Nevada gold and silver.
