mission process
this flight is a crew exchange mission to EAT and the 29. manned flight to this station. The expedition 12 working on the space station is replaced by the crew of the expedition 13. It consists of the Russian cosmonaut Pawel Winogradow and the American Jeffrey Williams. Also the first spaceman of Brazil Marcos Pontes participates in the flight.
As well as NASA pays to the Russian space agency 43.8 million dollar for the flight of Jeffrey Williams to EATS for the return flight of the commander of the eating expedition 12, William McArthur. This sum covers besides costs of the Soyuz cap with a possible emergency return and the costs of the training of the next US astronaut, who is to fly with Soyuz TMA-9.
The start took place with a booster rocket of the type soyuz fG from the space station Baikonur to 30. March 2006 around 02:30: 18 o'clock UTC. The cap separated nine minutes after the start from the third stage of the rocket, afterwards the solar panels were folded up. During the entrance into the orbit there were slight problems with the receipt of the telemetry data in the control center, which had however no effects on the flight. As reason difficulties with the transmission of the data turned out communication satellites over a Molnija - . The Andocken to EAT (at the Sarja - module in the automatic mode) took place according to plan at the 1. April 2006 around 04:19: 26 o'clock UTC over China.
