Geografie
hospital at the Pyhrn is on 640 m height in the trusting quarter. The expansion amounts to from north to south 16 km, from west to east 12.3 km. The total area amounts to 108.9 km ². 47.6% of the surface are wooded, 19.3% of the surface are agriculturally used. Local parts of the municipality are: Driving mountain, Gleinkerau, hospital at the Pyhrn, Oberweng, sea-brook. Hospital at the Pyhrn belongs to the tourism region Pyhrn Priel.

history
emperor Heinrich II. the country at the Pyhrn gave Bamberg to the diocese. Bishop Otto I. from Bamberg 1190 handed the hospital at the Pyhrn to layman brother shank over. The place counted 12 since that. Century to the duchy Austria. The hospital was converted 1418 into a Kollegiatstift. Pin the hospital at the Pyhrn attained large wealth in the following centuries. The Kollegiatstift became by Pope Paul V. in the year 1605 to a Propstei raised. 1714 to 1730 were arranged baroque by Johann Michael Prunner the church (with Fresken of Bartolomeo Altomonte and stucco works of Domenico Antonio Carlone). While the Napoleoni wars was several times occupied the place.
The Benediktinermönche of the monastery pc. waived in the year 1806. Blasien in the Black Forest pulled with the entire inventory of the monastery first after hospital on the Pyhrn. Since however pin was already waived in the year 1807, the convention already settled 1809 after pc. Paul in the Lavanttal over. The pin church became parish church. At the night of 25. on the 26. October 1841 damaged a fire the place and the pin buildings.
Since 1918 the place belongs to the Land of the Federal Republic upper Austria. After the connection of Austria to the German Reich to 13. March 1938 belonged the place to to “gau upper Danube”. At the beginning of of 1945 was stored in the Gruft under the Presbyterium the pin church the entire gold treasure of the Hungarian central bank (33,000 kg). After 1945 the re-establishment of upper Austria took place. An external restoration of the pin took place from 1964 to 1967. From 1989 to 1997 the forest enterprise hospital/Pyhrn resided in the pin. Today the Austrian rock picture museum is in the restored baroque areas of the pin.
