Central organization of the Filmwirtschaft
the central organization of the Filmwirtschaft e. V. (SPIO) in Wiesbaden the resident is roof federation from at present 16 professional associations of the German film, television and video economy, which represent altogether over 1.100 member firms. As protection of interests of the entire German film, television and video economy the SPIO expresses publicly to economic, legal and political questions, which concern this industry, takes themselves position to law projects and fulfills for its members service functions. President of the SPIO is at present Steffen Kuchenreuther.

a subsidiary of the SPIO is since 2002 the Freiwillige self-check of the Filmwirtschaft (FSK), led as GmbH.
The SPIO leads also a title register to the registration of copyrights at film titles.
The statistic department of the SPIO seizes all available data within the range of the German Filmwirtschaft, evaluates it and makes the results available of the public.
Members of the SPIO can submit films and videos, which from the Freiwillige did not receive self-check of the Filmwirtschaft a characteristic, to a lawyer commission of the SPIO, which examine whether the image carrier offends against regulations of the penal code.
history
the first central organization of the Filmwirtschaft became to 19. October 1923 based. The film producer Erich Pommer became their chairman.
The postwar SPIO was created 1950 in Wiesbaden and is since then also one that keel inside of the German institute for film customer registered association. In December 1956 the SPIO called the German film artist help in need in the life, a non-profit donation for the support of distressed film artists; in January 1966 it created the Friedrich William Murnau donation.
